The Priory of Salles Arbuissonnas in Beaujolais, founded in the 10th century under the authority of Cluny Abbey, is a little architectural gem. It flourished in the 14th century with the arrival of Benedictine nuns, who became Countess Canons in the 18th century. Engraved in its golden stones, 1,000 years of Beaujolais history unfold before us. Its 12th-century Romanesque cloister is particularly worth a visit. The Priory Museum houses a permanent exhibition tracing the history of Salles-Arbuisson.
