The Glay quarries

The Glay quarries are one of the places where the history of the Beaujolais region was made. It was here that the ochre stone used to build the famous villages of golden stone was quarried. The quarries ceased operations in the aftermath of the
last war. Sculptors and blacksmiths keep the craft tradition alive and explain what life was like in the quarries in days gone by (on Monday and Thursday afternoons and Saturday mornings).
